I was happy to hear that you’re
interested in single malt whisky and
welcome aboard MASC (1,854 local members
since August 2011)! At no
initiation fee and no dues, our wee
Club, if nothing else, is affordable.
Please pass the word: “wanted
enthusiastic new members who want to
learn about whisky and/or share their
knowledge with his/her fellow whisky
lovers. As the journey is an never
ending one, may I suggest that
we travel that road together. Oh, may
I add that this type of learning can be
a lot of fun!
I’ve added you to our mailing list and
will provide information about our
events as they are announced. We
typically have an ‘official’ scotch
tasting event every month, but there was
frequently special events that avail
themselves (typically about 2 events a
week during the cooler
months and 1 event a week during the
warmer months). I also notify the
members as to any Scotch Industry event
such ‘Whiskies of the
World’, ‘Raise Your Glass Atlanta’ (SMWSA),
‘Raise the Macallan’ (Macallan
Distillery’s free event), ‘Nights of
Passage’ (Glenlivet), etc. Note:
Whiskies of the World - Atlanta 2016
will be Saturday, October 22, 2016 from
5:30 to 9:00PM. Stay tuned for further
info and the MASC discount
code. Please put that event on your
calendar… WOW is Atlanta’s only
annual whisky show.
Are you interested in touring the malt
distilleries of Scotland? I invite you
to be among the first to sign up for the
‘MASC 2017 Tour’ (7-full days
of touring in late September/early
October 2017; 9 days counting air
travel). See below for additional
details
Our meetings are held once monthly
(typically Monday thru Thursday).
Whereas the majority of our events in
our early days were conducted
in northern metro communities (e.g.,
Woodstock and Marietta), now half are in
Buckhead. That being said, I encourage
you to participate in all
of our events in metro Atlanta. (I
never drove less than one hour (in each
direction) and have driven 2-hours to
attend a L.A. Scotch Club event.
As I learned a lot at these tastings and
tasted some wonderful single malts, it
was worth every minute of the time that
it took to get there.)
The key factor in realizing our Club's
goals (Whisky education, Whisky tasting
& Enjoyable company of old and new
like-minded friends) is
identifying and nurturing 'core members'
that genuinely seek more knowledge about
malt whisky and actively participate in
our events.
Such members are the dynamic that
ensures a great club. Please share any
and all ideas that you might have about
meeting places. I'd also
appreciate any critical input
accompanied by your suggested
alternative for the purpose of
improvement. Finally, as you move about
in your
daily pursuits, please talk-up our Club
and send me the names/email addresses of
such folks. (Yes, I conduct a lot of
private tastings for
various companies, organizations,
private clubs and dinner parties.
Please contact me to discuss your event
and the format options.)
I’ve attached the whisky menu from a
recent private tasting that I conducted
at a residence (birthday).
